Forbes ranks Orlando area No. 8 for job growth, up from 23rd..!

The Orlando area jumped up 23 places on Forbes.com’s list of the best cities for jobs.

The website released its annual report this week, and the Orlando-Kissimmee-Sanford area ranks No. 8 for the best big cities for jobs.

The methodology for the list includes all of the metropolitan statistical areas for which the Bureau of Labor Statistics reports monthly employment data. The index is calculated from several areas, including recent growth, mid-term growth, long-term trend and momentum, current year growth and the average of each year’s growth rate.

The Orlando area ranks ahead of the Denver and Dallas metropolitan areas for the 2014 list, and a spot behind New York City.

In 2013, the Orlando area had had 1.1 million jobs, according the the report, with 3.3 percent job growth. Orlando had a job growth of 4.7 percent from 2008 to 2013.
