Highwoods plans more downtown office space

Downtown Orlando Continues to Grow

Highwoods Properties (NYSE: HIW), one of downtown’s largest office landlords, plans to bring back a shelved project from 2006.

The Raleigh, N.C.-based real estate investment trust is looking for an anchor tenant for its planned Capital Plaza III office tower, a 186,000-square-foot, 14-story office building.

It will be somewhat smaller than its 15-story sister towers, the 243,297-square-foot Capital Plaza I and 303,224-square-foot Capital Plaza II, which are on the north side of Pine Street and overlook Lake Eola.

The new building would be on a 0.4-acre site next to the Capital Plaza I and II’s existing parking structure.
